About the Role
This position involves producing news content for both digital and on-air platforms. Responsibilities include acquiring and creating content tailored for broadcast and digital audiences, with a focus on fast-paced, deadline-driven storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Shoot, edit, and publish compelling video for digital and broadcast platforms, including same-day stories under tight deadlines.
- Write and produce digital-first story packages, including headlines, captions, web copy, and social copy optimized for engagement and accuracy.
- Cover breaking news in the field and in-house; coordinate with producers and reporters to ensure cohesive storytelling across TV, web, app, and social/OTT platforms.
- Maintain high journalistic standards, including fact-checking, attribution, and adherence to Gray/KTIV editorial and AI-use guidelines.
- Manage and troubleshoot equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting) and maintain organized media workflows and file naming conventions.
- Track content performance (views, retention, shares) and use data to refine future content and story selection.
Requirements
- 1–3+ years of experience creating video content in a newsroom, sports, or digital media environment (editing-heavy roles are a plus).
- Proficiency with video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and strong fundamentals in shooting, lighting, and audio.
- Excellent news judgment and ability to write clear, conversational copy for digital audiences.
- Comfortable publishing to CMS and social platforms in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment (nights, weekends, and holidays as needed).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to lift and carry typical field gear.
- Team-first attitude, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn new workflows and platforms.
Experience producing content for on-air newscasts is beneficial.
