Digital Media Coordinator
About the role
The Digital Media Coordinator supports the technological and digital media needs of the Turbomachinery Laboratory, focusing on two symposia: the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia and the Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium.
Responsibilities
- Complete website updates and performance monitoring for the Turbo Lab’s three sites.
- Ensure compliance, accessibility, and maintenance of Turbo Lab sites.
- Provide primary technical support for website function, publication, and availability.
- Aid and consult with the Senior Program Manager and Turbo Lab Communications Department in creating pages as needed.
- Maximize the function and capability of Turbo Lab sites.
- Collaborate with the Senior Program Manager on details and methods of distributing symposium proceedings.
- Lead the search for, secure, and program a dependable, capable method of distribution for symposium proceedings.
- Work with TAMU Library Services to load proceedings for public consumption using Oaktrust.
- Lead formatting and transfer of data.
- Act as the primary contact for ensuring public availability within Turbo Lab guidelines.
- Manage other general upkeep and improvements to the proceedings repository.
- Lead the build and optimization of Turbo Lab’s registration and program submission software.
- Be the primary contact for contracting, editing, troubleshooting, and technical support in event platforms, such as Aventri.
- Provide technical support and assistance with look and feel on event registration platforms, Aventri.
- Ensure working knowledge of software capabilities and maximize full benefits of registration/program platforms.
- Offer advice and enact improvements with Turbo Lab staff.
- Assist and consult with Turbo Lab Communications Department and Senior Program Manager on the build-out and testing of a mobile app for symposia.
- Responsible for publishing, monitoring, access to, and improvements for future events.
- Be the primary contact for user processes and show-site technical support.
- Maintain instructions and consult on best practices for knowledge distribution to users in outreach and show-site awareness.
- Provide on-site registration and technological support at annual Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia in Houston.
- Handle vendor relations and contracting for badge printing technical services in conjunction with Turbo Lab staff.
- Be the primary contact for ensuring badge printing setup and proper printing of badge information according to Turbo Lab guidelines/process.
- Perform duties similar to the above tasks in support of the Center’s activities beyond the main symposia throughout the calendar year.
- Be the primary Turbo Lab Staff contact for IT compliance.
- Execute and supply support for IT tickets for Turbo Lab Staff.
- Monitor Turbo Lab shared email addresses as assigned.
- Assist and consult with Turbo Lab Staff on equipment improvements.
- Maintain and track Turbo Lab Staff equipment for inventory with Senior Program Manager and Lab Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Some experience in website design, software systems operation/optimization, and programming.
- Experience managing sites on WordPress platform and assisting with technical tasks, including learning and navigating new software.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, graphic skills, mobile app(s), repository maintenance and distribution, website accessibility practices and compliance, Microsoft365 or other TAMU systems available to staff, and/or communication systems operation/optimization is helpful but not required.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and use/operate applicable computing equipment.
- Outstanding ability to interact effectively with people at all levels within the university and with the Center’s industry contacts abroad.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in fields specific to job description, including management information systems, software systems optimization, software manipulation, website design/maintenance, coding, data analysis, etc.
- Experience managing sites on WordPress platform and assisting with technical tasks, including learning and navigating new software.
- Working knowledge of search engine optimization.
- Technological savvy to assist with optimization of event software, troubleshoot software issues, and train colleagues when necessary.
- Skills in software training, coding, problem-solving, troubleshooting generally desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be technologically savvy in order to assist with optimization of event software, troubleshoot software issues and train colleagues when necessary.
- Needs skills related to coding and building pages for electronic document distribution as well as a working knowledge of search engine optimization.
- Must be willing to learn and understand different software/systems and their capabilities in depth to optimize functionality and/or an aptitude for related components in a fast-paced environment, independently.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skills in software training, coding, problem-solving, troubleshooting generally desired.
