Job Description

Date: September 2026
Position: Digital Marketing & Content Specialist
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: 515 North State Street, Chicago
Primary Social Channel: @chicagodermatology

About the Role

The role supports Chicago Cosmetic Surgery & Dermatology, Skin Science, and The Skin Spa through one cohesive social media presence, balancing medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, aesthetic treatments, Skin Spa services, and dermatologist-curated skincare.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage multiple content pillars within the @chicagodermatology social presence, representing Chicago Cosmetic Surgery & Dermatology, Skin Science, and The Skin Spa while maintaining a cohesive overall brand identity.
  • Proficient with Meta Business Suite. Comfortable scheduling and publishing content, reviewing audience activity and performance, managing Instagram and Facebook, and using platform insights to inform content and publishing decisions.
  • Develop engaging digital content and campaigns for social media, and other digital channels, providing content and creative support for website and email initiatives as needed, adapting content, messaging, timing, and publishing strategy for each platform and audience.
  • Data-informed content strategy. Analyze reach, engagement, watch time, retention, shares, saves, profile activity, follower growth, audience behavior, and other relevant performance metrics and translate those findings into actionable changes to content strategy.
  • Film, photograph, edit, and produce engaging digital content, including short-form video, across multiple platforms. Available for regular in-office content capture, approximately twice per week. Strategically plan and batch provider content while also capturing treatments, products, clinic activity, staff, events, and timely content opportunities as they arise.
  • Able to build campaigns from concept through execution. Determine the campaign strategy, key messages, content sequence, formats, timeline, calls to action, and supporting assets needed to achieve the objective.
  • Understanding of social SEO and discoverability. Understand how keywords, captions, on-screen text, profile optimization, content topics, and search behavior influence discoverability across social platforms and incorporate these principles naturally into content.
  • Maintain regular review and communication of social media performance, identifying what is working, what is not, and recommendations for future content, campaigns, and publishing strategy.
  • Working knowledge of Meta paid media, including audience targeting, campaign objectives, creative considerations, and interpreting paid versus organic performance. Graphic designer skills to bring content concepts, campaigns, promotions, and brand initiatives to life visually.
  • Develop and execute digital marketing plans for promotions, events, launches, and seasonal initiatives, including campaign timelines, teaser content, educational content, registration or conversion-focused content, countdowns, day-of coverage, and supporting digital assets.
  • Monitor and manage social media communities, including comments and direct messages; identify issues requiring escalation; engage appropriately; and recognize recurring questions or conversations that can inform future content.
  • Ensure all digital content is accurate, compliant, on-brand, and thoroughly proofread, with particular attention to patient privacy, medical information, provider names and credentials, treatment names, promotional terms, dates, links, and before-and-after content.
  • Update in-clinic tabletop and banner stands, troubleshoot Yodeck displays and monitors, develop monitor content, and create in-room reels with music. Set up event marketing materials; film and edit procedures for the website, lectures, and social media; and participate in staff and in-house marketing events. Manage materials and sales for twice-yearly events.

Requirements

  • Self-directed and proactive. High level of autonomy required.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. Independently manage multiple brands and content streams, including filming schedules, content calendars, campaign timelines, approvals, assets, promotions, provider availability, deadlines, and publishing schedules.
  • Able to lead content capture with providers. Physicians and staff should not be expected to arrive with social media ideas prepared. The Digital Marketing & Content Specialist should come to filming sessions with concepts, questions, hooks, shot lists, and a clear plan and be comfortable directing content capture efficiently.
  • Able to translate subject-matter expertise into consumer-friendly content. Recognize what is relevant and interesting to patients and translate provider expertise into content that is understandable, engaging, credible, and appropriate for social and digital channels.
  • Strong copywriting and digital storytelling skills. Write effective hooks, CTAs, captions, reel overlays, blogs, campaign messaging, and other digital copy while maintaining the appropriate voice for each brand.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control. Accuracy is particularly important when communicating provider names and credentials, treatment names, dates, promotional terms, medical information, links, before-and-after information, and content involving patient privacy.
  • Able to communicate and collaborate across teams. Obtain information and approvals from providers, leadership, design, and clinical teams while continuing to own the marketing recommendation and move projects forward.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and technologies. Understand current social media and digital marketing practices and be able to tailor content and publishing strategies for different audiences, including Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.
  • Effective community manager. Comfortable monitoring comments and direct messages, engaging appropriately, identifying issues requiring escalation, and using audience questions and feedback to identify opportunities for future content.
  • Working knowledge of CRM-driven marketing. Understand audience segmentation, messaging, campaign execution, and the role of CRM platforms in supporting digital marketing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field required.
  • Preferred: 1-3 years of experience in a marketing role with a strong emphasis on digital marketing, content creation, social media, or agency work.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and editing short-form video and other digital content.
  • Experience managing social media strategies and content calendars across multiple brands.
  • Experience in healthcare, aesthetics, dermatology, or plastic surgery is a plus.
