About the Role

The Digital Health Virtual Care Network team at Novant Health is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Part-Time Endocrinologist to support the delivery of clinical services using telehealth modalities. This role contributes to the development, standardization, and optimization of digital care delivery across the organization. Responsibilities include synchronous and asynchronous telehealth visits, remote patient monitoring oversight, virtual specialty consult services, and participation in digital care programs across service lines. This position collaborates with clinical, operational, and technical teams to maintain quality, compliance, and continuity of care.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the approved medical practices process in the delivery of all patient care.
  • Provide clinical assessments and use approved medical protocols per policy; recommend an appropriate level of clinical care based on clinical judgment and protocols.
  • Review and update patient records, ensuring accuracy at each patient appointment.
  • Provide education to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community.
  • Analyze test results and determine appropriate care, including referrals, follow-up visits, and further treatment options.
  • Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements applicable to the assigned area of responsibility and ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina medical license, board certification, and current DEA license required; ability to obtain additional state licensure as needed.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine.
  • 3 years of experience working in a physician practice setting, emergency room, or urgent care.
  • 1 year of experience working in a telehealth/virtual care setting preferred.
  • Up to 25% regional day travel between facilities may be required.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a virtual environment.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to multitask, including navigating and documenting in an EMR while communicating with the patient via video and/or telephonic platform.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, contribute to a positive working environment, and demonstrate initiative, ownership, and accountability.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare environment as it relates to technology, physicians, medical group practice, hospitals, ancillary services, and insurance/managed care.
