About the role

Responsible technical work identifying, recovering, and preserving digital evidence related to investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Duties include identification, extraction and recovery of digital evidence from a variety of electronic devices
  • Disseminating data to appropriate staff conducting criminal investigations in the Sheriff’s Office
  • Participates in an evidentiary chain of custody process
  • May testify in court as to the process’ integrity
  • Data and digital evidence extracted from electronic devices is critical to criminal investigations and involves sensitive subject matter

Requirements

  • Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree in computer science, cyber security, forensic analysis, law enforcement or other related degree AND one (1) year full-time, paid, verifiable experience in a position with responsibility for compiling, recovering and preserving digital evidence; OR four (4) years full-time, paid, verifiable experience in a licensed law enforcement role, with responsibility for compiling, recovering and preserving digital evidence.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
