Digital Delivery Manager – Transmission Planning & Power System Analysis
About the role
The Digital Delivery Manager will facilitate and oversee digital services for the Transmission Planning and Power System Analysis (TP&PSA) business line, including automation management and development, tool and software assessments, and technology stack management and optimization. This role supports project execution across all offices within the business line, aligns with business strategy, develops high-performing teams, and promotes the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission. The position reports directly to the Digital Delivery Director of the TP&PSA business line within 1898 & Co. and operates at a national level.
A deep understanding of the power systems industry, specifically transmission planning studies and operations, is required. The role involves automation management, new market development, best practices, training, and technology stack optimization while supporting dynamic and profitable growth based on core values and transformative traits.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Support the development and execution of the digital strategy for the TP&PSA business line.
- Drive innovation through AI, digital tools, and automation technologies.
- Develop and maintain core automation tools supporting project execution.
- Operational Integration
- Partner with project managers to identify and implement automation opportunities.
- Support profitable growth, including pursuing new markets or products.
- Provide strategic feedback on efficient project execution.
- Achieve financial performance targets and standards.
- Business Development
- Collaborate with business development managers, managing directors, and project managers on software management, procurement, and vendor partnerships.
- Collaboration & Coordination
- Facilitate digital delivery coordination across regions, departments, and business lines.
- Coordinate best practice training for tools and automation.
- Leadership & Project Execution
- Provide experienced technical guidance and support.
- Mentor and train staff on technical and business aspects of projects.
- Lead and review team performance for efficient, cost-effective project execution.
- Document, publish, and maintain quality processes aligned with core guidelines.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, business, or related field and 7 years of related experience; or associate's degree and 9 years of related experience; or High School Diploma/GED and 11 years of related experience.
- Strong understanding of consulting delivery models and professional services environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of planning tools, analytical platforms, automation frameworks, and emerging digital technologies.
- Ability to apply AI, programming, and automation solutions to improve consulting workflows.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and systems-thinking skills.
- Ability to integrate digital tools into project execution without disrupting delivery.

Skills
- Deep and broad knowledge of electric transmission systems and transmission system planning processes.
- Extensive experience with transmission planning, studies, and operations (e.g., load flow, short circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient studies).
- Familiarity with transmission planning standards, policies, and procedures.
- Strong experience with industry software such as PSS/E, TARA, PSLF, PSCAD, TSAT, and PowerWorld.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C#, and other modern development languages.
- Experience utilizing AI tools (e.g., OpenAI Codex, Anthropic Claude Code) to develop automation workflows.
- Ability to independently manage transmission planning studies with execution support.
- Ability to develop, support, and manage automated workflows for steady-state and transient stability simulations.
- Proven ability to evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard engineering techniques for transmission planning.
- Proven ability to lead, educate, and train teams of engineers and analysts in transmission system planning.
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- General business and financial calculation knowledge.
- Effective project management skills.

Pay
$160,000.00–260,000.00 yearly. The expected compensation range is based on individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package includes a base salary and eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
