About the role
KRQE Media Group in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a creative, digitally savvy Digital Content Producer to join their award-winning newsroom team. This role requires a journalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering compelling local news across digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Update the KRQE website
- Curate high-performing content
- Craft strong SEO headlines
- Help report news — everything from quick-hit local stories to breaking news and enterprise reports
- Respond to traffic trends, audience interests, and emerging news stories
- Serve as a trusted steward of the KRQE brand
- Monitor all forms of media (print, TV, digital, blogs and social)
- Quickly report breaking news stories and be on the hunt for exclusive and/or trending content
- Packaging content that grows page views per visitor and time on site
- Evaluate website traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content needs and longer-term content curation
- Create positive working relationships with newsroom staff and management
- Create opportunities to market web content on broadcast
- Promote and distribute news content on social media
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience in digital content and journalism
- Capable of researching, interviewing, and writing original news articles
- Clever headline writer that gets readers to click
- Strong multi-tasking abilities
- Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style
- Enjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
- Strong communicator
- Some schedule flexibility (nights, weekends)
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Google Analytics and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Chartbeat, HTML, CSS, and Photoshop preferred
