About the role

CBS Stations is seeking a digital producer to join their team in Sacramento and San Francisco. This role involves creating and optimizing content for digital platforms, writing and editing stories, reacting to breaking news, and managing homepages.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, produce and update web coverage of news stories
  • React quickly to breaking news, writing and publishing articles and running live blogs
  • Clip and optimize videos for CBSNews.com, YouTube and other platforms
  • Manage homepages to present the best of the journalism we produce
  • Work with reporters and producers to publish the best of CBS News and Stations to our website
  • Proactively plan content around key news events and tentpoles
  • Track content performance and share insights to help inform story selection across platforms
  • Send push alerts on breaking news, weather and other high-interest stories

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a digital breaking news environment
  • Proven ability to react quickly as news develops
  • Skilled writer with experience producing quality copy on deadline
  • Experience executing on SEO strategies
  • A knack for framing content in an engaging way for a digital audience
  • Deep familiarity with analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Omniture, Chartbeat and Parse.ly

Pay

Hiring Salary Range: $70,304.00 - 80,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

Schedule

The hours for this role are Wednesday through Friday from 11a-8p and Saturday and Sunday from 3p-12a. Some holidays and shift changes may be required.
