About the role
CBS Stations is looking for a digital producer to create and optimize content for digital platforms in Sacramento and San Francisco. This role is responsible for writing and editing stories across a wide range of topics, reacting to breaking news across platforms, clipping and optimizing video on CBSNews.com and on YouTube, and executing growth initiatives across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, produce and update web coverage of news stories, gathering the latest information from a variety of sources, always being mindful of CBS Stations standards
- React quickly to breaking news, writing and publishing articles and running live blogs
- Clip and optimize videos for CBSNews.com, YouTube and other platforms, writing compelling, SEO-friendly headlines and descriptions
- Manage homepages to present the best of the journalism we produce
- Work with reporters and producers to publish the best of CBS News and Stations to our website
- Proactively plan content around key news events and tentpoles
- Track content performance and share content insights to help inform story selection across platforms
- Send push alerts on breaking news, weather and other high-interest stories
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a digital breaking-news environment and a proven ability to react quickly as news develops
- Skilled writer who can produce quality copy on deadline
- Experience executing on SEO strategies
- Knack for framing content in an engaging way for a digital audience
- Deep familiarity with analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Omniture, Chartbeat and Parse.ly
- Thrive in a collaborative team environment
- Scrupulous attention to detail, a cool head under pressure, and excellent communication skills
Schedule
Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m.–12 a.m. You will be asked to work some holidays and shift your schedule as news breaks.
Pay
Hiring salary range: $70,304.00 – $80,000.00. The range applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
