About the Role

29News is seeking an energetic and engaging Digital Anchor/Digital Content Producer to bring streaming, online, and social media coverage to an established number-one audience in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. This hybrid position combines digital anchoring and digital content producing on our website, for streaming, and on our social media platforms. Other duties will include updating news stories, images, video, and live content for our linear TV operation as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Go live on digital platforms during breaking news, severe weather, community events, planned programming, etc.
  • Act as a digital content producer to update the station’s website and social media with news stories throughout the day.
  • Create short-form and long-form video stories for our website, app, streaming platforms, and social media sites using content gathered by reporters, as well as your unique content.
  • Coach and collaborate with reporting staff to take advantage of the presentation of their stories on digital platforms.
  • Team with the newsroom to identify opportunities for unique digital video coverage.
  • Generate, gather, and provide news and information in the most accurate, appealing, timely, and creative way.
  • Maintain a high quality of content with accurate, error-free reporting.
  • Work with others to craft and maintain a station voice across platforms.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of digital strategies and projects that may span multiple weeks or months.
  • Create digital assets, including video, photo galleries, live video streams, and other multimedia, to enhance stories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or other related fields.
  • Proven track record of working toward this career through internships and other newsroom experience.
  • Strong journalism skills and teamwork abilities.

Pay

Pay (VA): $18.00/hr (Year 1), $18.54/hr (Year 2), $19.10/hr (Year 3).
