Dietetic Inspector

Pay Grade 15 | Full-time, 37.5 hours per week | Eligible for overtime pay

About the role

The Dietetic Inspector position reports to an office in Hopkinsville (Christian Co.), KY and works with a survey team in the following counties: Allen, Ballard, Barren, Butler, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle, Christian, Crittenden, Daviess, Edmonson, Fulton, Graves, Grayson, Hancock, Henderson, Hickman, Hopkins, Livingston, Logan, Lyon, McCracken, McLean, Marshall, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Simpson, Todd, Trigg, Union, Warren, and Webster. This role requires extensive in-state travel, overtime, weekend work, and occasional overnight stays. It also requires the physical ability and energy to traverse large healthcare facilities for extended periods during surveys and inspections.

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) performs varied functions for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, including inspecting and licensing childcare and healthcare facilities, conducting investigations of complaints, and addressing Medicaid fraud. As a Dietetic Inspector, you will provide specialized dietary expertise as part of a healthcare survey team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct team-based surveys for certification and licensure of all types of healthcare facilities, providing dietary expertise as a member of the survey team.
• Perform complaint investigations focused on dietary components in healthcare facilities to determine regulatory compliance or violations.
• Work independently or as part of a team to conduct on-site dietary inspections during licensure and certification surveys.
• Accurately document regulatory violations by preparing written Statements of Deficiencies and complaint investigation results.
• Determine facility compliance through interpretation of pertinent regulations, following Division guidelines and policies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and survey processes.
• Provide technical assistance and interpretation of regulations to staff and providers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as a dietitian by the Kentucky Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists (bdn.ky.gov).
• Must be registered as a dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association (cdrnet.org).
• Must maintain required licensure, certification, or credentials for the duration of employment.
• Physical ability and energy to stand and traverse large healthcare facilities for extended periods.

• Ability to travel extensively within Kentucky and occasionally to other states.

Pay

$47,531.28 - $71,298.00 annually

Schedule

37.5 hours per week. Position may require overtime, weekend work, and occasional overnight stays.

The agency may authorize telecommuting, with the possibility of termination or modification of the arrangement at any time.
