Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dietary Supervisor to join our team at Sands Point Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Port Washington, New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring the highest quality of patient care and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Works under the direction of the Food Service Director to ensure appropriate supervision and operation of the Dietary Department
- Aids in the training, evaluation, and supervision of dietary staff under direct guidance and direction of the Food Service Director
- Supervises tray line/server and dining room meal service in a timely and appropriate manner to provide high-quality dietary service to patients, residents, visitors, and employees of the facility
- Ensures that all facility policies and procedures are followed by all employees of the dietary department
- Performs all duties as instructed/delegated by the Food Service Director in a timely and appropriate manner
- Oversees the daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparation, food service, and sanitation
- Supervises and directs dietary staff to ensure efficient and effective service
- Maintains high standards of quality, safety, and sanitation in food preparation and presentation
- Assures all proper safety and sanitation practices are followed by all personnel under their supervision in the dietary department
- Conducts daily inspections of the dietary department to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or Administrator
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a dietary setting, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare facility
- Associate's degree in a related field (diploma or certificate in food service management or nutrition)
- Possesses a strong understanding of dietary practices, food safety standards, and department operations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Work Environment
The Dietary Supervisor will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent interruptions and varying temperature conditions. Must be able to lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
