Key Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Assures meals are prepared according to the dietician-approved menus and in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
- Successfully cooks for an average of 30 or more residents at a time.
- Plans menus in consultation with a dietician, taking advantage of seasonal and local availability, and incorporating resident preferences.
- Serves meals when needed, orders supplies, keeps records, and maintains employee schedules.
- Assesses, plans, and maintains residents' dietary needs.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Comply with Community's personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Executive Director.
- Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Ensure meals and snacks are prepared according to the menus; that meals taste good and are presentable.
- Affirm that all items needed to prepare foods on the menu are available to dietary staff.
- Affirm that kitchen equipment is clean, in working order, and available to dietary staff.
- Implement and maintain a weekly cleaning schedule.
- Maintain and keep accurate accounting for all budgets assigned and get approval from Executive Director to spend more than the budget.
- Responsible for dietary department staff.
- Participate in care plan meetings and comply with goals and approaches set forth in residents' care plans, seeking feedback from residents on meal satisfaction and making necessary changes.
- Monitor personal and staff compliance to residents' rights.
- Responsible for compliance to all State and Federal regulations, including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials, and fire safety.
Essential Job Duties/Physical Requirements
- Regular worksite attendance.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation.
- Employee is required to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects more than 25 pounds.

- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the Community.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
