Essential Functions
- Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and are timely
- Determine the amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submit order to Dietary Supervisor
- Absorb and maintain perpetual supplies inventory, and notify Dietary Supervisor of shortages or discrepancies
- Consult with Dietary Supervisor regarding use of leftovers, stores, and labels accordingly
- Consult registered dietitian on modified diets
- Supervise dietary workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food
- Absorb and measure ingredients according to approved recipes, using blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, etc.
- Cook meat, fish, and fowl in a variety of ways such as: baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming as well as carve into individual servings according to menu combinations and resident diet orders
- Test food temperatures
- Prepare special nourishment and supplements as instructed by Dietary Supervisor, and identify with resident name and room number
- Always observe infection prevention and control practices
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Perform all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or general equivalency is preferred
- One year of experience is preferred
