Dietary Cook

About the role

Wilshire at Lakewood Care Center is looking for a Dietary Cook to join our Dietary team. In this role you will help maintain smooth running of the kitchen and dining room in a fast-paced, active environment. You will have the opportunity to make an impact on patient care and be part of a fun, supportive team with hands-on upper management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food to be served to patients.
• Provide meal service to residents and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining and kitchen areas.
• Prepare and serve meals to residents in the community.
• Ensure all special dietary needs are met and prepare texture-modified food as directed.
• Ensure compliance with all record-keeping, food safety, and risk-management requirements.
• Maintain clean dining areas and dishes using appropriate procedures; discard leftovers and empty trash.
• Understand and follow color coding and abbreviations of tray cards and therapeutic menus.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Attend all mandatory in-services, educational trainings, and department meetings.

Requirements

• Friendly with good communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and residents.
• Ability to read.
• Meet physical demands: stand, sit, walk extended lengths of time, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Food service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines.
• A high school diploma or GED accepted.

• Demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
