Summary
Captures menus and manages kitchen inventory. Ensures food is handled safely and prepared according to recipes. Assists in planning and reviewing menus. Oversees kitchen staff.
Essential Job Functions
- Reviews menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.
- Prepares, seasons, and cooks food.
- Carves portions of meat, fish, or fowl for individual servings.
- Inspects food storage and directs sanitary maintenance of kitchen and storage facilities.
- Oversees and coordinates activities of kitchen workers preparing and cooking foods.
- Plans and reviews menus.
- Determines food quantities, labor, and overhead costs.
- May participate in food preparation.
- Ensures cooking equipment is in good order.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Six months related experience.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
