About the role
A Dietary Aide supports the Dietary Supervisor and Cook in preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals for residents in an assisted-living setting. The role ensures food-preparation areas stay clean, sanitary, and organized while fostering a safe, respectful environment for all residents.
Responsibilities
- Set up and clean up the dining room before and after meals.
- Assist with basic meal preparation and meal service according to the planned menu.
- Help feed residents who need assistance, following safe feeding practices.
- Practice and enforce proper sanitary food-handling techniques and safe work habits.
- Clean kitchen and surfaces according to sanitation schedules.
- Support a dignified, respectful, and caring atmosphere with residents, families, guests, and team members.
- Promote a healthy, resident-focused environment by interacting cooperatively and compassionately.
- Respond promptly and positively to resident and family requests and dietary needs.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
- Keep strict confidentiality regarding resident information and company operations in compliance with HIPAA and Platinum Communities’ policies.
- Attend and actively participate in required meetings and in-service training opportunities.
- Follow all community policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 14 years of age.
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
- Flexible availability, including the ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional extra shifts as needed.
- Must have or be willing to obtain CBRF/RCAC certifications, if required by the community.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism while working with elderly and/or vulnerable populations.
