Part-time: 2 evenings a week from 4pm–8pm and every other weekend.
About the role
The Food and Nutrition Services Aide is responsible for providing assistance in all food functions as directed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Review, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders.
- Prepare and serve residents’ nutritional bedtime snacks as well as substitute foods for residents who refuse foods served.
- Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
- Maintain the department in a clean and safe manner by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Follow the facility’s Infection Control Precautions when performing daily tasks.
- Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils are readily available for the next meal.
- Prepare and deliver snacks and food carts or trays to designated areas.
- Serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed.
- Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish room as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must maintain supplies, equipment, and work areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.
- Must demonstrate patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
- Must be willing to assist residents at their current maturity level.
- Must be open to adopting new methods and principles in food service practices.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
Physical demands
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must possess adequate sight and hearing senses (or use prosthetics) to perform the essential functions.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and transport it a minimum of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
