Diesel Technician/Mechanic (Mobile)

Responsibilities

• Travels to client sites for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heavy Duty Trucks
• Troubleshoots various systems such as electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension
• Identifies needed repairs and performs corrective actions
• Stocks and maintains service truck inventory, tool collection, and necessary paperwork
• Maintains service truck
• Uses diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults in medium and heavy duty vehicles
• Interprets test results and determines the most efficient repair procedure
• Communicates with customers and provides detailed repair information
• Communicates with parts department personnel to obtain or order necessary parts
• Completes road tests on customer vehicles to assist in problem isolation or verify repairs
• Tracks and charges clocked hours to the proper Repair Order operations
• Writes up clear, accurate, and detailed repair descriptions for each operation
• Communicates with customers professionally and positively
• Aids other technicians with repair procedures as needed

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Formal technical degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience preferred
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision needed
• Ability to obtain a Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Ability to read and interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics, and various other technical bulletins
• Ability to use a computer keyboard and basic Windows functions
• Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to outside weather elements
• Ability to work 8-10 hour days, including overtime hours as needed
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, and sit frequently, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
