Responsibilities
- Traveling to client sites for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heavy-Duty Trucks
- Performing corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy-duty vehicles
- Troubleshooting various systems such as electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension
- Writing up accurate, clear, and detailed descriptions of repairs on the repair order
- Stocking and maintaining service truck inventory, tool collection, and necessary paperwork
- Maintaining service truck and using diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults
- Communicating with customers and providing detailed repair information
- Ordering parts from the parts department and performing road tests on customer vehicles
- Tracking and charging clocked hours to the correct repair orders
- Interacting professionally with customers and assisting other technicians as needed
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Formal technical degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Ability to read and interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics, and various technical bulletins
- Computer keyboard skills and basic Windows knowledge
- Frequent exposure to outside weather elements and ability to work 8-10 hour days, including overtime
- Physical abilities to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
