Responsibilities
- Traveling to client sites for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heavy Duty Trucks.
- Troubleshooting various systems such as electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension.
- Identifying needed repairs and performing corrective actions.
- Writing up accurate, clear, and detailed descriptions of repairs on the repair order.
- Stocking and maintaining service truck inventory, tool collection, and necessary paperwork.
- Maintaining service truck and using diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults.
- Interpreting test results and determining the most efficient repair procedures.
- Communicating with customers and providing detailed repair information.
- Obtaining customer permission to complete diagnosed repairs and adding additional repairs.
- Communicating with parts department personnel to obtain or order necessary parts.
- Performing road tests to assist in problem isolation or verify repairs.
- Tracking and charging clocked hours to the correct repair order operations.
- Writing up detailed repair descriptions on the repair order, including the cause of failure and the correction and/or repair procedure used.
- Interacting professionally and positively with customers.
- Aiding other technicians with repair procedures as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Formal technical degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to obtain a Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to read and interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics, and various other technical bulletins.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use Windows.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to outside weather elements.
- Ability to work 8-10 hour days, including overtime hours as needed.
- Physical abilities to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, and sit frequently, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and lift up to 100 pounds.
