About the role
Completes diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision. This position is based in Downey, CA and is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements, as well as ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
Responsibilities
- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
- Perform maintenance and repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Pursue ongoing development and certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Maintain own tools
- Completes complex internal engine repairs
- Performs engine overhauls unassisted
- Demonstrate detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
- Use engine diagnostic software proficiently
- Communicate details of troubleshooting steps and repair results
Requirements
- 5 years of "heavy line" engine experience, including overhauls
- Knowledge of Cummins Diesel/Natural Gas engines and associated repair practices
- Knowledge of Cummins warranty policies and procedures
- Computer literate (Insite, QSOL, MS Office, Teams)
- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
- Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution
- Locally Valid Driving Permit (Preferred)
- Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations

Pay
Salary range: $62,480 – $93,720 per year
