Pay

Hourly pay: $28.00 per hour.

  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700.
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year).
  • Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, weekends off.
  • Second Shift: 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification, or post-secondary degree, preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
    • Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
    • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems.
  • Three (3) years or more of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.).
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
  • Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years).

Responsibilities

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
    • Standard vehicle maintenance.
    • Preventative maintenance.
    • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable.
    • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
    • Replaces defective components as instructed.
    • Works unsupervised on most tasks.
    • Performs facility maintenance duties.
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints.
  • Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT).
  • Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
  • Demonstrates the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
  • Other support duties as required, including:
    • Service Island support.
    • SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220).
    • Complete 2 of the OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (predominant OEM of fleet mix completed within 365 days).
