Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Somerset, PA — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a rewarding career maintaining heavy-duty vehicles.
Pay
- Hourly rate: $31.80 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign-On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
- Yearly merit pay increases
- Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year
Schedule
- Tuesday – Saturday
- Second Shift: Monday – Friday, 3:30 pm – 12:00 am
- Rotating Saturday: 6:00 am – 2:00 pm

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification (preferred)
- Post-secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
- Three or more years of relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred; must obtain within 6 months of hire)
- All other certifications as required by location
- Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must pass:
- Ryder drug test
- DOT physical
- Ryder road test
- Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
Responsibilities
- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
- Standard vehicle maintenance
- Preventative maintenance
- Diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
- Completing complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replacing defective components as instructed
- Works unsupervised on most tasks.
- Performs facility maintenance duties.
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
- Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
- Works in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT).
- Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
- Demonstrates ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
- Completes additional training:
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220)
- Completes 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses (predominant OEM of fleet mix within 365 days)
- Provides other support duties as required, including:
- Service Island support
- Additional operational tasks as needed
