Diesel Mechanic Technician

About the role

At Hunter Truck, our family-owned Peterbilt dealership is seeking Diesel Mechanic Technicians at all skill levels. Positions are available in Newburgh, NY, offering full-time daytime hours.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics and repairs of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment
• Diagnosing and completing repairs based on supervisor's direction
• Aiding other technicians on major repairs
• Communicating with the parts department for needed components
• Saving and tagging warranty or customer-requested parts
• Examining vehicles for additional safety or service needs
• Documenting all work performed and recommended, including warranty information
• Road testing vehicles as required or referring to test technicians
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area, service truck, and customer vehicles
• Reporting machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
• Fulfilling federal, state, and local regulations and adhering to Hunter Truck safety policies

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License
• One-year certificate from a college or vocational/technical school, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
• Regular standing, use of hands, frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs, frequently up to 100 lbs, and occasionally more than 100 lbs
• Good vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
