Responsibilities
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, school buses, and recreational vehicles per DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic components, steering systems, electrical systems, engines, transmissions, drive train, and braking systems per DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Evaluate equipment for needed repairs
- Aid in the parts department as necessary
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
- 2+ years of experience as a diesel or heavy truck mechanic
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and FMCSA standards
- ASE certifications a plus
- Certifications for brakes to DOT specifications
- Technical degree or certification for diesel technology preferred
- Knowledge of the operation and mechanical functions of equipment
- Must have own tools and a valid CDL driver’s license
- Construction Knowledge and experience preferred
- Regularly involves extended periods required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, climb on/under vehicles and/or equipment
- Work in cold and hot weather conditions
