This person will perform preventative maintenance and other routine repairs on trucks and trailers, utilizing hand tools and power tools when necessary. You’ll love coming to work every day if you get, want, and have the capacity to: Perform preventative maintenance, including but not limited to oil changes, truck/trailer inspections, brake jobs, and changing lights, tires, belts, etc.Maintain the cleanliness of the shopBe available for roadside assistance when necessaryUtilize equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, various hand/power tools, welding equipment, cutting torch, extension ladder, jack, creeper, and stool for maneuvering under/around truck & trailerTest mechanical products and equipment after repair of assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications Requirements The best candidate will have the following qualifications: Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalentAt least 25 years old Minimum 1 year of experience in fleet maintenance/repair, specifically tractor-trailer equipmentAbility to pass a DOT physical and DOT drug/alcohol screeningWorking knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations, including inspection standardsOwn hand tools required (shop provides diagnostic and specialty equipment)Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work in varying weather/shop conditions Preferred Qualifications Vocational/technical school certificate or diploma in diesel/heavy truck technologyClass A CDL ASE certification(s) — Medium/Heavy Truck series (T2, T4, T5, T8 or equivalent)Qualified to perform DOT annual inspections Registered Cargo Tank Inspector & Tester (49 CFR 180.409)Air brake system diagnostic/repair experienceExperience with electronic diagnostic tools (fault code reading, ECM systems) While performing duties, you may be required to sit, stoop, lift up to 100 pounds, type, communicate effectively, manage conflict, work evenings and/or weekends, attend remote meetings, and travel.
