About the Role
Work alongside shop leadership and senior mechanics to keep our diverse fleet of Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles operating in peak, "road-ready" condition. Handle everything from standard preventative maintenance and electronic diagnostics to complex mechanical repairs in a safe, fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, CNG systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
- Conduct thorough DOT and brake inspections to ensure full safety compliance across all fleet vehicles.
- Perform routine and complex brake system repairs and service A/C systems using standard electronic diagnostic software.
- Test-drive trucks as needed to accurately diagnose issues and confirm repairs.
- Log work orders, manage parts inventory, maintain clean work bays, and adhere strictly to OSHA and GFL safety protocols.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in heavy-duty diesel and/or CNG fleet maintenance.
- Brake Safety Certificate and EPA Section 609 A/C Certification.
- Proficiency with electronic diagnostic software and basic computer systems.
- Valid Class A or B CDL strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- ASE certifications are a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations, with a strong commitment to shop safety.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and maneuver in tight shop spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- Comfortable operating heavy equipment, power tools, and computerized diagnostic units.
