Description Diesel Mechanic Company: Omni-Serv Location: UPS shipping facility, Windsor Locks, Connecticut (Bradley area) Employment type: Full-time Classification: Hourly, non-exempt Reports to: Site Supervisor About Us Omni-Serv, part of Group One, has provided skilled labor and operational support for contracted airport services since 1998. We are looking for dependable people who want to get the job done right. Compensation $26.00 to $31.00 per hour. Placement in the range depends on relevant experience and demonstrated ability. Schedule Shift: Monday to Friday, 3:30 AM to 12:00 PM Position Summary We are seeking a dependable Diesel Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on vehicles and equipment at a UPS shipping facility in the Bradley area of Connecticut. You'll handle routine maintenance and common repairs independently while following management's direction and assigned priorities, work safely, and recognize when a repair requires additional support. What You'll Do Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and general repairs on assigned diesel-powered vehicles and equipmentTroubleshoot engine, cooling, fuel, electrical, starting, and charging system issuesService brakes, steering, suspension, and related components within your training and experienceIdentify repair needs and communicate equipment condition, parts requirements, and estimated completion timesFollow manufacturer service procedures and management's work assignmentsMaintain accurate work orders, including labor time, parts used, and repairs completedKeep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organizedReport unsafe conditions and equipment requiring removal from service Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insuranceHealth savings account (HSA)Life insurance401(k) Paid time off Equal Opportunity Omni-Serv is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Requirements What You Need Ability to perform routine maintenance and common repairs with minimal supervisionFamiliarity with diagnostic equipment, service manuals, and standard shop toolsAbility to follow direction, manage assigned tasks, and communicate progressReliable attendance, attention to detail, and safe work habitsWillingness to learn unfamiliar equipment and continue developing mechanical skillsValid driver's license Preferred Two or more years of hands-on diesel, fleet, or related mechanical maintenance experienceTechnical training or relevant certifications (e.g., ASE). Demonstrated hands-on experience will also be considered. Work Environment And Physical Requirements Setting: Shop and yard work at an active shipping facility; indoor / outdoor exposure, including Connecticut winter weatherPhysical: Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs; stand, kneel, crouch, and work under vehicles for extended periodsSafety: PPE required and provided; follow facility safety rules around moving vehicles and equipment
