Diesel Mechanic

About the role

Economy Transportation and Logistics is hiring an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to service and maintain our fleet of Class A commercial diesel vehicles, trailers, and equipment.

Work Environment

- Primary Facility: Houston, TX - Fleet supports regional operations: Occasional travel to neighboring regions required - We follow the work wherever it goes.

Equipment Serviced

- Class A diesel tractors (sleeper trucks) - Tanker, ISO container, flatbed, and dry van trailers - Offload Pumps and ancillary equipment - 10, 13, and 18-speed manual transmission equipment - DOT-regulated commercial vehicles

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Class A diesel trucks and trailers - Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, and air systems - Ensure equipment meets DOT and safety compliance standards - Complete accurate maintenance records and inspections - Perform roadside or field repairs as needed - Work closely with operations and dispatch to minimize downtime

Minimum Requirements

- 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic working on Class A commercial vehicles - Strong knowledge of diesel engines and trailer systems - Experience with 10, 13, and 18-speed manual transmissions - Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues - Familiarity with DOT inspection and compliance standards - Valid driver's license - Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

- CDL Class A - Experience with oilfield equipment - Tanker and ISO container trailer experience - Welding or fabrication experience
