Work Environment
- Charlotte, NC
- Primary work environment is an indoor service and maintenance shop, with occasional field or outdoor work as needed.
- Specialty work on fire trucks and ambulances
Key Job Duties
- Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and air systems
- Troubleshooting and repairing wiring, controls, sensors, pumps, valves, cylinders, and hydraulic systems
- Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on fire trucks and ambulances
- Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage
- Completing safety inspections and ensuring vehicles are ready for service
- Maintaining a clean, safe work area and following OSHA and company safety standards
- Assisting other technicians as needed and working as part of a team
Requirements
- Diesel mechanic experience
- Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, preferably with heavy duty trucks or equipment preferred
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening
