We're looking for a Diesel Mechanic/Upfitter to work in our Manitowoc, WI maintenance and repair facility. Under the direction of the Shop Foreman, Mechanics are responsible for the repair, maintenance, and upfit of construction vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Upfitting new licensed fleet units
- Installing electrical components, hydraulic components, water systems, storage compartments, mounting beds, van bodies, water tanks, etc.
- Keeping equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures
- Correcting deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
- Verifying proper performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
- Complying with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
- Maintaining vehicle records by annotating services and repair logs
- Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; initiating repairs
- Containing costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications
