This position directly supports essential public service operations. Reliable equipment performance ensures safe jobsites, uninterrupted service, and minimized downtime.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment including excavators, grizzlies, backhoes, loaders, and pavers
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, engine, and mechanical systems
- Complete shop and field repairs
- Document work performed
Requirements
- 2–5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills
- Industrial or waste environment experience preferred
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check
Skills
- Proficient in heavy equipment diagnostics and repair
- Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

Pay
New employees start at $24.41 per hour for the first 150 working days. Upon successful completion of the introductory period, employees advance to $30.51 per hour.
Schedule
Hours vary based on department needs and shifts may include day, evening, and weekend work.
