Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and repairs complex coach problems.
  • Inspects, assists, and monitors Mechanics B and C’s work.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Supports retrofit campaign completions.
  • Trains and participates in meetings.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Completes work orders specifying parts and labor.
  • Tests coaches for proper working order.
  • Utilizes diagnostic equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical functions.
  • Maintains detailed paperwork and documentation for repairs and installations.
  • Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots electrical buses.
  • Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots multiplexing systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid South Carolina CDL.
  • Five (5) years progressive heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, or related fields.
  • Experience with complex diagnostic computer equipment and software.
  • In-depth understanding of ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression, system and sensitive edges, tires and transmission.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving, and analytical skills (troubleshoot technical issues, communicate, and document solutions to non-technical parties).

  • Flexible to work in a 24/7 environment.
