Responsibilities

• Vehicle Repair: Repair and overhaul cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment components
• Preventative Maintenance: Carry out diagnostics, tune-ups, system adjustments, and routine servicing
• State Inspections: Perform safety and emissions inspections and complete required documentation
• Equipment Diagnostics: Identify mechanical problems and determine proper repair procedures and parts
• Safety Practices: Maintain a clean work area and follow procedures that reduce risks and prevent injuries
• Field Adjustments: Make equipment adjustments, minor repairs, and cleaning to support safe operation

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Special Requirements: This position requires possession of an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the Air Brake restriction (L) and Manual Transmission restriction (E) removed, or equivalent . This position requires employees must obtain an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during the probationary period and continuously maintain it while employed in this job.
• This position requires operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
• This position requires employees must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 4 or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
• This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
