About us
Our manufacturing team is looking for an experienced Die Setter / Press Setup Operator to support metal stamping production in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for independently setting up and operating progressive, compound, and secondary stamping dies, ensuring production runs efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up stamping dies and press equipment according to production schedules and work orders.
- Operate power presses and related production equipment with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot die and press issues during setup and production to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with toolmakers to resolve stamping defects such as slug pulling, misfeeds, scrap buildup, part ejection issues, and dimensional concerns.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and quality specifications.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and help maintain equipment reliability.
- Assist in creating and updating work instructions and process documentation as needed.
- Clean, count, and track finished parts for production reporting and inventory purposes.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience setting up and operating stamping presses and dies.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience with progressive, compound, and secondary stamping operations.
- Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
- Proficient in the use of precision inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and related measuring equipment.
- Strong math, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing production demands.
