About the Role
Operates various types of Single Hit and/or Progressive Hit Presses and sets up dies used in production. Performs Die Setter functions as a backup, setting dies in various machines including progressive presses and secondary presses.
Responsibilities
- Operate Single Hit and/or Progressive Hit Presses.
- Load coils of steel used on presses; drive forklift when needed.
- Assist Tool & Die in performing minor repairs on tools.
- Record data for inventory control, including good parts, scrap parts, and other necessary information.
- Verify product integrity visually, using gauges and tape measures.
- Set specified dies in press, measure shut height, and adjust ram height; clamp die in place.
- Maintain all setup sheets for dies and ensure parts are approved by quality.
- Store dies in assigned areas.
- Monitor and report machine wear/damage to supervisors for preventative maintenance.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout-tagout.
- Assist machine operators to enhance equipment productivity.
- Perform other duties as needed to ensure facility quality.
- Responsible for all customer-specific requirements, including those referenced in QMS manuals.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Die setting experience, good mechanical aptitude, basic math, and blueprint reading skills.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Self-motivated, able to work well with others, and possess a positive attitude.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on the plant floor.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
