Die Cast Tech Trainee

This role is part of the Maintenance team. As a Die Cast/Equipment Technician Trainee, you will work alongside an experienced technician to learn how to repair and maintain all equipment in the Assembly, Heavy Duty, or Controls tooling areas. You will also assist cell leaders when set-ups or problems occur. Adherence to department policies, company safety procedures, and practices is required.

Responsibilities

  • Train on maintaining die cast machines and other department equipment.
  • Learn to assist cell leaders with set-ups and retrieving parts.
  • Perform duties in the safest and most efficient manner possible.
  • Operate company equipment safely.
  • Collaborate respectfully with other team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Prior experience working with manufacturing machinery.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical school training.

Skills

  • General familiarity with department equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions in safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure documents.
  • Ability to follow direction from senior employees during training.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and/or airborne particles.
  • Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and adverse weather.
  • Manual labor in a manufacturing environment with temperature fluctuations on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing, climbing, and walking.
  • Hand dexterity required for operating departmental equipment.
