Dialysis Technician
About the role
The Harborview Kidney/Dialysis Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Dialysis Technician.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Assemble, prepare, prime, and preset dialysis and pheresis equipment and materials in the dialysis lab and at patient bedside according to nephrology orders
- Maintain current knowledge of operation procedures and maintenance of new equipment
- Reprocess and disinfect hemodialysis equipment per policy and procedure
- Aseptically dispense dialysis solution to include calculating, measuring pre-weight of dry chemicals, and verifying through chemical analysis for accuracy
- Make changes in dialysis composition by compounding any additions
- In coordination with RN, perform bedside plasmapheresis treatment
- Participate in on-call coverage rotation for urgent dialysis set-ups outside laboratory business hours
Required Position Qualifications
- An Associate’s Degree with emphasis in chemistry, biology, or medical sciences AND two years experience in a medical laboratory to include one year in a dialysis/pheresis laboratory at the level of Dialysis/Pheresis Technician Trainee
