Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid in improving patient health and reducing hospitalizations and missed treatments through clinical and operational processes.
- Effectively manage supplies and staff labor hours.
- Conduct monthly reviews of patient medication profiles.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians.
- Support physicians during patient rounds and accurately transcribe and implement orders.
- Implement anemia management and medication protocols as needed.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including health care professional practice act requirements.
- Communicate patient assessment, reassessment, and monitoring results to physicians, team members, and other relevant parties.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with the Medical Director and physicians.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team activities for patient assessments and care planning.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff as a preceptor or assign a preceptor.
- Act as a resource and assist in the evaluation and improvement of dialysis services.
- Assist the Administrator in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining center staff.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state, maintained in good standing.
- At least 12 months of experience in providing nursing care, including 3 months of experience in maintaining care for patients on maintenance dialysis.
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to handle new and emergent situations with sound judgment.
- Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in all USRC clinical applications, required within 90 days of hire.
- Meeting any practice requirements for the applicable state (see addendum).
