Overview
Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PCT) Preceptor to join our team in University City, Missouri. This role offers hands-on training and support for new PCTs, preparing them to provide safe and effective home dialysis therapy.
Job Description
- Reinforces home hemodialysis (HHD) and/or peritoneal dialysis (PD) training as permitted by law.
- Identifies and welcomes patients, obtaining vital signs, weights, and gathering necessary information.
- Builds and maintains effective communication and collaboration processes with patients, care partners, the HT RN, and other team members.
- Assists with electronic home treatment/medication/oral nutritional supplement reconciliation and reports missing data/orders to the HT RN.
- Prepares supplies for laboratory testing and prepares specimens for shipping.
- Schedules patient appointments and contacts patients/caregivers regarding dates, times, and reminders.
- Maintains logs and tracking, and assists with inventory ordering and management.
- Participates in medical records, infection control, and other audit processes as directed.
- Collaborates with others during staff huddles or meetings.
- Supports patient registration and use of connected health.
- Ensures a strong communication process between Clinical Management, Education Coordinators, direct patient care staff, and all support staff.
- Monitors processes in the delivery of patient care through regular Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
Success Profile
The ideal candidate will have prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience, along with a genuine passion for developing deep relationships with patients and improving their quality of life. Strong management skills and prior direct patient care experience are also required.
