Dialysis Patient Care Technician-PCT

About the role

Dialysis Clinic, Inc. is recruiting Patient Care Technicians to support our mission of providing personalized care for patients with chronic kidney disease. The role involves actively participating in infection control, risk management, and patient education activities, guiding new patients through a 120-day education plan, obtaining and recording vital signs, setting up and breaking down dialysis equipment, inserting and removing patient access needles, monitoring patients during dialysis, and maintaining professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Participate in infection control, risk management, and patient education activities
• Guide new patients through a 120-day education plan
• Obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings during treatment
• Set up and break down dialysis blood system for treatment
• Insert and remove patient access needles
• Maintain professional working relationship, observing patient privacy and rights
• Maintain and track inventory
• Perform laboratory work under RN supervision
• Monitor patients during dialysis, document changes, and inform charge nurse of any concerns
• Calculate patient's weight loss to reach dry weight
• Determine patient care priorities and organize work load accordingly

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• Desire to collaborate with care teams
• Ability to problem solve
• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous healthcare experience preferred, but not required
• CNA, EMT, medical assistant, CNT and/or phlebotomy skills desired
• DCI provides a 3-month comprehensive education program, including classroom group sessions and one-on-one skills training
• Dialysis experience not required, job shadow opportunities available

Pay and Schedule

• Pay range from $20-$25 per hour, depending on healthcare experience
• No overnight shifts
• Sundays off
