About the role
The Patient Care Technician (CCHT) provides care to patients with end-stage renal disease, supporting clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process to deliver prescribed treatments. This position works with the Lexington Home Hemo & PD program.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in infection control, risk management and patient education activities
- Guide new patients through 120-day education plan
- Obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings during treatment
- Set up and break down dialysis blood system for treatment
- Insert and remove patient access needles
- Monitor patients during dialysis, document changes and inform charge nurse of any concerns
- Calculate patient’s weight loss to reach dry weight
- Determine patient care priorities and organize work load accordingly
- Maintain professional working relationship, observing patient privacy and rights
- Maintain and track inventory
- Perform laboratory work
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Desire to collaborate with care teams
- Ability to problem solve
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- CNA, EMT, medical assistant, CNT and/or phlebotomy skills desired
- DCI’s 3-month comprehensive education program, including classroom group sessions and one-on-one skills training
- CCHT certification required

Pay
Pay range from $19.06-$24.85 per hour, depending on healthcare experience
Schedule
Full-time, five 8-hour shifts starting at 8am; Sundays off; no overnight shifts
