About the role

This is a remote, field-based position covering WA, OR, NV, UT, AZ, MT, and Northern CA. Candidates should live in close proximity to a large airport hub. The Diagnostic Specialist (DS) is a field-based diagnostic leader responsible for educating healthcare providers on genetic testing initiatives and programs, establishing deep diagnostic expertise aligned with global diagnostic strategy for the assigned U.S. region.

Extensive travel is required; candidates must be capable of traveling long distances via car, plane, or train and comfortable working with modern electronic hardware and AI tools such as Microsoft Co-pilot, ChatGPT, and Grok.

Responsibilities

  • Educate healthcare providers on genetic testing to execute sponsored testing programs and raise awareness.
  • Identify educational needs within the Inherited Retinal Disease (IRD) healthcare community.
  • Provide education on genetic labs performing high-quality gene analysis, appropriate IRD panels, and accurate interpretation of results.
  • Compliantly partner with cross-functional teams within the client’s organization to contribute to U.S. diagnostic strategy development and implementation.
  • Identify and engage Genetic Testing Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) with educational needs, providing awareness to these healthcare providers.
  • Attend conferences to learn about diagnostic programs and testing.
  • Participate in advocacy, outreach, and engagement with local organizations where compliant.
  • Deliver high-quality education and insights to inform strategy for healthcare providers and internal partner labs.
  • Educate healthcare providers on resources for follow-up questions from testing labs.
  • Provide expertise on IRD gene panels and best practices for test requisition forms.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and inclusive behaviors.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required; healthcare degree strongly preferred (MS, RN, PA, PharmD, PhD).
  • Minimum 7+ years of pharma/biotech experience in commercial, clinical/medical, or diagnostics.
  • Proven success working in high-performing, diverse teams.
  • Experience collaborating with KOLs, labs, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in rare or ultra-rare diseases with a strong patient focus preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and scientific acumen.
  • Strategic thinking and operational capability.
  • Ability to succeed in matrixed environments.
  • Persistence, resilience, and achievement orientation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Cross-functional capability and strong ethical standards.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology strongly preferred.

Pay

If this job posting includes a base salary range, it represents the low and high end for U.S. locations. This role is eligible for hire in select U.S. locations based on business and operational considerations.
