About the Role

The Island Health Department of Medical Imaging in Duncan is seeking a full-time Radiologist for the Cowichan District Hospital (CDH). This position offers a unique opportunity to participate in designing and optimizing a new hospital and imaging department, set to open in 2027. The successful candidate will work within a small group practice of 7 Radiologists and contribute to the expansion of radiologic services.

Preferred candidates will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills, with proficiency in CT, US, MRI, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, BMD, and basic interventional procedures. Additional assets include experience in MRI or MSK, a willingness to share administrative roles and future leadership, and an interest in living in the local island community. Training in or willingness to train in CT Cardiac Coronary Angiography and CT Colonography is also desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging procedures including CT, US, MRI, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, BMD, and basic interventional procedures.
• Collaborate with a small group practice of 7 Radiologists, contributing to a harmonious and efficient work environment.
• Participate in administrative roles and future leadership of the group.
• Engage in ongoing training, including CT Cardiac Coronary Angiography and CT Colonography if not already trained.
• Adapt workload as needed while maintaining a lifestyle-based practice with abundant vacation time and flexibility.

Requirements

• Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Radiology.
• Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
• Proficiency in CT, US, MRI, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, BMD, and basic interventional procedures.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to live in and contribute to the local island community.

Benefits

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:

• Relocation cost reimbursements up to a maximum of $15,000.
• Recruitment incentive of $10,000.
• Fee Premium of 4.20%.
• Annual flat fee of $6,373.80.
• Rural Continuing Medical Education (CME) starting at $3,000/annum in years 3 & 4, increasing to a maximum of $6,000/annum after 4 years.
• Retention Premium of 4.20%.
• Retention Flat Fee of $6,509.
