This position is located at McDonald Army Health Center in Fort Eustis, Virginia, near Newport News. The area is known for its strong military presence, advanced technology, and international commerce.
Responsibilities
- Perform mammography screenings for periodic or baseline examinations.
- Perform diagnostic mammograms on symptomatic patients.
- Consult with Radiologist regarding findings that require immediate attention.
- Maintain records of patients treated, examinations performed, and scans taken.
- Explain procedures to patients and position them for accurate imaging.
- Recognize anatomic variants and determine if further examinations are needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Who May Apply: US Citizens
To qualify, you must meet one of the following:
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-06 level or equivalent, including performing testing procedures in a clinical laboratory, calibrating or maintaining clinical laboratory instruments, preparing samples for testing, and documenting results through clinical laboratory automated systems.
- Education: One full academic year of graduate-level education in a field directly related to the position, such as Healthcare Technician, Medical Technician, or related health science fields. (Transcripts and certification required.)
- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used if the total meets 100% of the requirements. Calculate by dividing months of experience by 12 and graduate semester hours by 9, then sum the percentages.
Foreign Education: If using education from foreign institutions, credentials must be evaluated by a recognized organization to ensure equivalence to a U.S. accredited program. More information.
Skills
- Knowledge of Basic Anatomy and Physiology.
- Skill in performing a variety of radiographic examinations.
- Skill in utilizing radiographic equipment.
- At least 1 year of work experience in mammography.
