About the role
The Marion VA Health Care System is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) - Computed Tomography (CT).
Responsibilities
- Independently performs routine and complex computed tomography (CT) procedures according to established protocol - in a safe and professional manner.
- Performs as a diagnostic technologist in the performance and coordination of all diagnostic radiology examinations - within the Imaging Department - critical areas of the hospital and surgical suites.
- Performs CT exams in a manner to optimize procedural scan times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases.
- Prepares contrast materials that are used in CT and diagnostic exams.
- Cleans and inspects equipment to insure proper mechanical and electrical operation and promptly reports any deficiencies to the supervisor.
- Practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients - staff - and self - utilizing lead aprons - lead gloves - lead shields - lead lined walls and collimation.
- Stocks and inventory of CT and diagnostic supplies and related materials.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program - evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree - accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE)].
- Advanced certification in computed tomography (CT) - magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) - [or Mammography (M) duties performed independently - as applicable].
