About the role
This Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) - Computed Tomography (CT) - position is assigned to Diagnostic Imaging at VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System.
Responsibilities
- Provides professional care 100% of the time within the specialized assignment
- Supports the needs of the facility with flexible assignments including regular and off-tour responsibilities
- Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative
- Monitors patients for physiologic changes during procedures and keeps the radiologist informed
- Ensures patient safety and performs basic first aid and life support practices
- Coordinates and implements radiation protection standards and techniques
- Positions patients for a wide variety of complex imaging studies (CT, MRI, IR)
Requirements
- Basic Requirements: US Citizenship, English proficiency, certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - Radiography (ARRT), and completion of a full-time training course in diagnostic radiologic technology.
- Specialized Experience: At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level demonstrating clinical competencies and performing a range of technical procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: Full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program accredited by JRCERT.
- Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level performing a range of technical procedures.
Skills
- Knowledge of basic technique standards for minimum radiographic exposure
- Knowledge of anatomy and positioning
- Knowledge of radiation protection standards, including minimum radiographic exposure techniques and beamlimitation to anatomical area
- Ability to adjust image quality in the digital system
- Ability to monitor patient's physiologic changes during the procedure
- Ability to balance patient and staff needs while performing complex scans and procedures
- Ability to implement radiation protection standards and techniques
- Ability to position patients for a wide variety of complex imaging studies (CT, MRI, IR)

- Pay ranges from $58,810 to $104,876 per year based on experience and qualifications.
