About the role

This position is subject to include additional salary adjustment to meet industry standards according to the current Association of Higher Education Collective Bargaining Agreement and Memorandums of Understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and develop courses in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, including lectures, lab instruction, and clinical education;
  • Design, implement, and update course curriculum to align with accreditation standards and industry best practices;
  • Conduct student assessments using a variety of instructional methodologies and evaluation tools to measure learning outcomes;
  • Supervise students in clinical settings, ensuring the application of theoretical knowledge to practical sonographic procedures;
  • Engage in academic advising, mentoring, and career guidance for students;
  • Participate in program accreditation processes, ensuring compliance with institutional and accreditation body standards (CAAHEP, JRC-DMS);
  • Maintain expertise in the field by engaging in ongoing professional development, research, and scholarly activities;
  • Contribute to faculty governance, institutional service, and committee participation;
  • Collaborate with healthcare partners, clinical affiliates, and faculty to maintain and expand clinical education opportunities;
  • Utilize learning management systems and technology to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Diagnostic Medical Sonography;
  • Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent Board-certification in Abdomen and OB/GYN Ultrasound;
  • Two (2) years of recent clinical experience in diagnostic ultrasound;
  • Have experience teaching and/or precepting DMS students;
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from various ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities;
  • Computer competency to include Microsoft Office Suites applications;
  • The gross and fine motor skills required to assist students and providing safe effective diagnostic ultrasound;
  • The physical endurance and ability to work in a clinical setting with students for 4-6 hours;
  • The physical endurance and strength sufficient to assist students with providing diagnostic ultrasound;
  • Currently hold an unencumbered DMS (RDMS) license in WA state.

Qualifications

  • Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in DMS or related field from an accredited institution; Have experience with accreditation standards (JRC-DMS, CAHEEP); Prior classroom and clinical teaching experience in a community college setting; Experience with curriculum development and Canvas LMS.
