Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction in assigned DMS courses aligned with program learning outcomes and JRC-DMS standard
- Develop, implement, and revise syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials
- Evaluate student academic performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate academic records in the learning management system
- Facilitate hands-on scanning laboratories that reinforce didactic instruction and develop psychomotor skills
- Ensure safe operation, proper maintenance, and effective utilization of ultrasound equipment
- Assess student technical competencies using standardized rubrics and skill check-offs
- Participate in the development and continuous improvement of lab curricula and simulations
- Serve as a liaison between the program and clinical affiliates
- Support and communicate with clinical instructors regarding student performance, expectations, and remediation
- Ensure clinical documentation, evaluations, and competencies meet accreditation standards
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field (per JRC-DMS standards)
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field
- Certification: Current ARDMS certification in Echocardiography and one additional specialty (Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular)
- Experience: Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer
- Eligibility to teach in compliance with JRC-DMS and institutional requirements
- Prior teaching experience in a CAAHEP-accredited DMS program
- Experience with laboratory instruction, clinical supervision, and student assessment
- Familiarity with HESI or other standardized sonography assessments
- Experience with accreditation self-studies and site visit preparation
