Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Full-Time Faculty

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in assigned DMS courses aligned with program learning outcomes and JRC-DMS standard
  • Develop, implement, and revise syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials
  • Evaluate student academic performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate academic records in the learning management system
  • Facilitate hands-on scanning laboratories that reinforce didactic instruction and develop psychomotor skills
  • Ensure safe operation, proper maintenance, and effective utilization of ultrasound equipment
  • Assess student technical competencies using standardized rubrics and skill check-offs
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of lab curricula and simulations
  • Serve as a liaison between the program and clinical affiliates
  • Support and communicate with clinical instructors regarding student performance, expectations, and remediation
  • Ensure clinical documentation, evaluations, and competencies meet accreditation standards

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field (per JRC-DMS standards)
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field
  • Certification: Current ARDMS certification in Echocardiography and one additional specialty (Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular)
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer
  • Eligibility to teach in compliance with JRC-DMS and institutional requirements
  • Prior teaching experience in a CAAHEP-accredited DMS program
  • Experience with laboratory instruction, clinical supervision, and student assessment
  • Familiarity with HESI or other standardized sonography assessments
  • Experience with accreditation self-studies and site visit preparation
